Sonin Laser Target Range Finder 10075

If you have ever given thought to how many time a year you pull out a measuring tape you may be surprised at the number. I find I do it at least 4-5 times a month, at the very least, to a more likely 15-20. I have worn out 2 contractors grade tapes thus far and I often find myself running out of tape. I also find that there times when it is essential that you have someone hold the other end; that is if you are fortunate to have someone available to you all the time, which is unlikely.

After an extended look at electronic measuring tools, I decided it was time to purchase the Sonin Model 10075. Now, keep in mind that the Sonin 10075 is rated at 99.5% within or - ¼" accurate. The Sonin 10075 is capable of measurements of up to 60' down to 1Ê". I was looking for a measuring instrument that could give me a quick and accurate measure of square footage and the Sonin delivers precisely that.

Physically the Sonin 10075 is a little larger than a handful at 6" x 3" x 1 ½" and may be awkward to hold for some users. It s benefits, however, merit accommodating this instrument in a brief case or simply utilizing the included belt-clip carrier case. A ¾" x 2" non-backlit display keeps you apprised of your current operating mode. The unit has 9 controls placed within comfortable reach of your thumb, although I prefer to hold it from the top and use my index finger to manipulate the control buttons.

Engaging this control after taking your initial measurement will allow you to convert your measurement to:
1. Feet & Inches
2. Feet & Feet (in decimals)
3. Yards
4. Meters

Memory (M) Button

Activates any of the seven Memories and cycles through memory registers. Two of those Memory registers are dedicated math calculation registers only. Memory functions allow you to take cumulative linear measurements, cumulative area and sq. ft. measurements, Volume measurements,

MEMORY RECALL (MR)
Recalls entered memory data from blinking memory registers.

USING THE SONIN 10075

The Sonin Model 10075 incorporates the use of a Class B visible laser beam for reference purposes only as the 10075 takes it measurements sonically. You need to keep with a set of guidelines in mind to successfully operate the 11075.

Point at an object perpendicular to you- this is critical as you risk sound waves glancing off your subjects and ricocheting off other objects in the area delivering a false reading.
Point at a hard surface and not glass or a mirror etc.- the sonic beam needs to have a finite distance in order to deliver a measurement.
Make an effort to measure down the middle of your target area - to minimize both electrical and physical disturbances to the sonic beam.

There are only four ERROR codes that are employed in the operation of the 10075.

Error 1 Out of range or faulty return signal, electrical interference
Error 2 No valid reading i.e. inappropriate target surface, not perpendicular or finite
Error 3 - Math Error
Battery Low - Change 9v. Battery

The Sonin 10075 has an auto shutoff feature that will save your batteries if you forget to power down the 10075.

The laser onboard the Sonin is extremely easy to see on the brightest days outside. You really do have to be mindful to have as flat and perpendicular surface to target your measurement against. Placing this instrument on a flat surface (mimicking a tripod) will make perpendicular measurements easier.

Utilizing the memories, you can measure, calculate area and store that measurement cumulatively in a Memory register. That is by far my favorite and most used function of the Sonin 10075!

First of all I bought this measuring device because I am a real estate agent, and I need to measure room sizes for listing purposes. After shopping around I decided to buy it because it had many features that the competitors do not offer.

For example: It measures from 1'10" up to 45 feet (13 meters).computes areas and volumes, and adds linear measurements, area, volumes.
Most of the others I looked into just simply gave the room measurements. This was important to me because I could use each room measurement to get a total square footage.

It is easy to use and simple to learn how to use.

It measures room sizes by bouncing a sonar signal to a solid surface and sends it back to the machine. It is light weight, inexpensive, and a wonderful measuring device. I would recommend it for work or personal use.

The basic functions are the best! Need to divide 23 9/16" by 5. Or find out how many inches 24.5cm is! No Problem!

I find I use this calculator everytime I'm in the workshop or Home Depot shoping for materials.

If there's a negative I'd say that the cover can be awkward to close in a hurry. Great tool otherwise!

Great Calculator,But !
I have been using my inchmate calculator for 10 years extensivly in my job as a mechanical designer. It is a great calculator and very fast. It helps me in adding and subtracting dimensions for layout of construction documents. The one I have does not have the rise, run, and slope features but square and square root keys acheive the same results just a little slower. The only improvement that the manufacturer could enhance for this calculator is the incorporation of sine, cosine, and tangent keys for trigonometric calculations. These features would win a five plus star rating for this already great calculator.

Why guess when you can be sure?
I don't know about you but I have a tough time adding dimensions after a few hors on the job. This tool will save time and money and get you home a little sooner to your family!

Throw away the paper....

How many times does it take to calculate where it make that CUT on the most expensive piece of wood in your collection? Exactly once! For years I have performed double, triple and sometimes many more checks on calculations for cuts on expensive, rare woods. The Sonin calculator has made calculation time short and accurate.

Easy to use and right on everytime. Now if I just get a tape measure that tells me when I measured wrong, I'm set!

Sonin 50211 Moisture Test Meter

Don't waste your money buy this one!

If you have a couple hundred dollars to blow, you can waste your money on one of those obscenely overpriced name brand moisture meters. If you're looking for something that performs comparatively just as well, but you don't want to spend a fortune, look no further. It may not look as pretty or have a digital display, but it performs the same basic function just as well as any of the higher priced models. I've been using mine for my home inspection business since I purchased it about a year ago. I haven't had a problem with it's accuracy yet and it's very easy to operate. The only complaint is that it's too easy for the power switch to turn on when it's sliding around in your tool box. I went through alot of 9V batteries before I found out that SONIN offers a storage case for it. It was very inexpensive and well worth it in what I save in battery money.

Nice for the money

I bought one of these because I had a slab leak and need to figure out what direction it was coming from. The meter, seems pretty accurate, though, I have nothing else to compare it to. The tool is rather easy to use and even has a battery tester on it to test the power of a 9V. I would recommend this product for someone who is looking for an inexpensive moisture meter. It works well on dry wall and wood. The prongs can be a bit difficult to get into wood, but that is usually a sign that the wood is dry. It served its purpose and helped me find where the leak was coming from. I also lent it to a friend at work who used it to test whether or not he had a leak...It may not have a fancy lcd display, but you really no not need one in this case.

An excellent bargain. This tool is great for the average home inspector or contractor. It does not give you the actual % of moisture but will tell you whether a stain is wet or dry. This is ideal for crawl spaces and attics where you have one hand on a flashlight and the meter in the other. Plus the leds make it easy to read in those dark place inspectors go.

WOW! Accurate measurements!!

I purchased this for a friend who is a Realtor. It couldn't be more simple to measure a room and is very accurate. The unit is simple to use, you get the measure of a distance by simply pressing a single button. It allows you to get the square dimensions of a room by automatically multiplying the width and length of a room! My friend was very pleased with the gift and with the entire unit. Accurate!!!

Easy, accurate, & lots of fun!

I bought this for a Realtor also, and LOVES it!! Certianly a ++ over walking tape all over the place.
This measurer is easy to use, just a few buttons do all the business. Even came with "cheater" stickers to place on the units, so you don't have to bust out the instructions. Certainly not precision accuracy to do carpentry work, but within 1-2" usually which is enough to estimate room sizes, yard lines, or do sq.ft. measurements for paint, drywall, etc. projects around the house. The remote is easy to target, and gives a fast flashing green light when you hit it. Don't need the target inside of 60', but we found using it incresed the accuracy. The only way to improve this is if it had a laser sight. (Again, don't really need it, but wouldn't that be *cool* ??)
We had to calibrate the unit for high altitude, but the instructions are surprisingly easy & no trouble at all!
All in all, well worth the $$$$.!!

Long time ago...

I have used this unit and found it very useful. I was investigating the site of one of George Washington's faithful spies property, a Mr. Roe in East Patchogue . The grounds were very overgrown being on Mud Creek. There had been a horse "farm" of sorts and we used these units to set out our 50 foot intervals for shovel testing with them through the overgrown parts of the woods. Saved hacking through the environs (which I usually object to) with machetes in places it almost convinced me they should be used all the time, by law, we never know how a property ends up after the lawful survey is done, it might be preserved and then I can't sleep well at night after an overzealous crew has hacked half of it apart.

Get rid of that tape measure!!!

This tool is a great innovation! Talk about ease of measuring. This tool allows for quick and highly accurate measurments to be taken from anywhere, in any situation. No more dragging long tapes around, trying to get them tight, around furniture, up ladders----forget it all with this great tool. I also now use this in law enforcement for measuring all my crime scenes. No more dragging the tape through blood or across sensitive crime scenes.

This tool ROCKS!!!! If you do a lot of measuring than don't let this great help pass you by.

Sonin 00700 Water Alarm with Remote Sensor

Works great !

Place the contacts where they will contact rising water and the alarm can be heard all over the house.
Put it in the sump, very pleased.
The local hardware store wanted 45 bucks for their water sensor.
The cord is plenty long enough, it's just stuffed up into the battery compartment for shipping.

Great insurance investment!

Because I have had problems with water in my basement, I designed and built an alarm--it works fine. Then I found out about this Sonin and bought one. Theirs looks better and has more features than mine. I have no idea how they can sell their device so cheaply!

If your washer overflowed once it will do it again. This time be prepared. This is inexpensive and I tested that it is sensitive to moisture. It is cheap peace of mind. It should be by every washing machine.

The cheapest insurance you'll ever buy!

This device has saved me hundreds of dollars and countless hours of cleanup! My basement floods periodically. Before, we only found out when someone went downstarirs and stepped in water. Now, the alarm goes off when the problem starts (before it becomes a disaster) and we are able to stop the water and clean it up in a few minutes instead of days.
